A little treasure I purchased on ebay, this is a gold gilt Livery Button, c1830
This was probably a cuff button, with the Adair crest and motto. The top banner reads “Loyal Au Mort”, the family Motto. The button back says “Superior Quality”.
Livery buttons were worn on servant’s uniforms in the noble houses in the 19th century.
